Dr. Janet Lee Mitchell peacefully passed away on July 20, 2023,

at her home in Bullhead City, Arizona, at the age of 87. Janet

embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity, finding joy in her

passion for research. Her contributions to her field were profound

and will be remembered for generations to come.

 

As a pioneering researcher in the field of parapsychology, Dr. Mitchell focused on out-of-body experiences, human consciousness, and extrasensory abilities. Her published works, including two books entitled Out-of-Body Experiences: A Handbook and Conscious Evolution, are preserved in special collections at the University of West Georgia. Her insatiable curiosity and commitment to advancing knowledge earned her great respect among her peers and admiration from those whose lives she touched through her work.

Janet cherished her home away from home, Laughlin’s Riverside Resort and Casino. There she found joy engaging in friendly bingo matches and applying her skills on the slots, creating cherished memories with friends and fellow enthusiasts.

Janet's love for learning extended beyond her professional pursuits. As she continued to indulge in her love for classic movies, musicals, dance, and music, her heart remained forever entwined with the enchanting world of entertainment. Through her appreciation, she celebrated the talents of the artists and the emotional connections these art forms created,
leaving a lasting impact on all who shared in her passion.

In her life and in her work, Janet exemplified resilience, determination, and individualism. Her impact on the scientific community and the memories she created with friends will forever be etched in our hearts.
